Polycystic Ovary Syndrome: About six months ago I did a review on Ovation Cell Therapy and included a video and a brief story about my hair. In the video I mentioned that I was loosing hair...but I never said why....well for the past two years I have been loosing hair due to Polycystic Ovary Syndrome. Loosing hair can be freaking scary and slightly annoying when you hear people say, "You can't even tell, I don't know what your talking about your hair is so full"...until I flipped my hair around and showed them my temple area that was thinning. Yes, I have A LOT of hair, but it's A LOT of fine hair which is completely different than thick hair. Fine hair needs to be cared for differently since the strands are so delicate...and on top of it, my hair is curly so things can get a little tricky. My hair is currently growing back, but I am still doing tests with different doctors and going to a nutritionist to make sure I am getting the proper nutrients to balance out my hormones in a more holistic way.
Ovation Cell Therapy Review for Hair Growth: I was on a mission to find products that would help promote hair growth and maintain curls. The first product I tried out for three months was the Advance Ovation Cell Therapy System. Like I said in the review, the outcome was great if you want to manage healthy hair. The texture of my curls were beautiful and I did notice some grow...some not a whole lot in the past three months. Overall I felt that the whole system was unnecessary and I only wanted the cell therapy which you can purchase for $60 plus tax. After not using Ovation Cell Therapy, I did notice the quality in my hair went down which made me crave that extra boots back.
MegaTek Review for Hair Growth: I did some more research to see if there was an alternative product to Ovation and I stumbled upon a product called MegaTek. Biggest tip I can give to someone unsure of buying a new product, DO YOUR RESEARCH!!! I watched videos, looked up the ingredients, read good and bad reviews on how MegaTek revitalized hair or how it broke off hair. I found the pros outweighed the cons and ordered MegaTek off of Amazon through this buyer. Don't be alarmed when you see that this product is for horses...it's kind of like Mane 'n' Tail, it is used on horses but safe on human hair. The key ingredient for hair boost in MegaTek, hydrolyzed keratin protein.
Ovation Cell Therapy & Megatek Results: The texture, the scent and the process of Megatek and Ovation Cell Therapy are exactly the same. They both share similar ingredients including the main ingredient hydrolyzed keratin protein. The only thing that I am not sure of is the quantity. So if someone who has a better understanding on the quantity and information on some of the ingredients please feel free to comment below and share. Overall, I like Megatek and will continue to stick with that product. It's less then Ovation and I am seeing FAST RESULTS however....I don't know if my results are due to my nutrition or the fact that my hormones are starting to balance out again. I still have to do more test and I will try to frequently update you all on my progress. I felt like I needed to post this up despite the fact that I hate talking about it. I want to inform women who are going through the same thing like me and know that with the proper changes and care you can bounce back. Dealing with all these symptoms is frustrating, so I also highly recommend going to a doctor to make sure you have polycystic ovary syndrome.
How to Use Megatek: I have naturally curly fine hair. I wash my hair every other day or every two days with either (best drugstore shampoo) Burts Bee Shampoo or a (higher end shampoo) sulfate free shampoo like Loreal....I am currently using the Loreal. After washing I then condition my hair with the Loreal Intense Conditioner and leave it on for 5-10 minutes (It's great as a deep conditioner too, leave it on for an hour or two around the house). After rinsing out the conditioner I then apply the MegaTek on damp hair to the scalp only. I leave it on until my next hair rinse. I know some people leave it on for a certain amount of time than rinse it, but I am stating my routine and what works best for me. I go about my day with it in and apply Shea Moisture Coconut & Hibiscus Curl Smoothie to hold my curls (This stuff is a DREAM for my curly hair)
One Mistake I Made on my Curly Hair Journey: I did not take before and after photos of my hair....silly I know.

ReplyDeleteOvation and megatek are very similar. I like megatek overall because it is less expensive. I honestly can't tell my hair growth beacuse my hair is so curly...but I do notice the texture of my hair is more defined and my hair feels healtier....I will do another video very soon!
DeleteHi Olivia. First of all you and your hair are lovely. Thanks for your blog and honesty regarding the aforementioned products. The bottom line is that I've just ordered the MegaTek from Amazon and should receive it on Friday. I need results yesterday so I'll begin immediately and will hopefully remember to take before and during pics. My backstory is that I have hypothyroidism which was finally diagnosed almost a year after my daughter's birth (17 years ago). I lost a lot of my thick luxurious hair before the exact medication and dosage kicked in. Since that time, and despite my continued regimented 6-month thyroid, medication, and doctor check-up...I still go through certain periods where my hair just falls out horribly (probably stressful times). But on top of that, my hair texture and luxuriousness has never returned and remains dry and coarse. I use sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner, take 5000mg of Biotin daily, and massage organic coconut oil into my scalp periodically. I did just start taking a 1000mg garlic pill daily per someone's advice.
ReplyDeleteI'm anxious to begin MegaTek and will keep you posted on my results. Andrea from Hairs Hoping
I have used the Mega-Tek and liked it very much as well. I notice that the higher the active is on the ingredients list, the better it tends to produce results. SO, with it being that the hydrolyzed protein is at the top of the Mega-Tek's ingredient list, hence the more potent it is. As, for the Ovation Cell Therapy, the hydrolyzed protein is somewhere near the mid to bottom of the list...Not saying that you will not produce near similar or the same results with either products, it just means that Mega-Tek will tend to generate faster results.
ReplyDeleteThank you so so much for the information!!! I will do an update video very soon! Thank you so much for reading and your feedback!
DeleteMegatek and Ovation are the same product made by the same company. ovation came about when the company realized people were using megatek their hair. Ovation was marketed specifically to human w/ the bigger price tag.
ReplyDeleteNice! Didn't know that! Thank you for the information! :)
DeleteI just read your review and went searching for Mega-Tek. I am anxious to try it. Funny though, I got an email from Ovation, which sparked my interest. They list their address in Carlsbadm, CA at the bottom of the email. Then I went to the Eqyss Grooming Products website and noticed that they have the SAME address as Ovation. Hmmm....
ReplyDeleteLol. Interesting finding. Thanks for the info. I have read several postings saying that the 2 products were manufactured by the same company. Having the same address on both bottles confirms my readings. I may give the Mega Tek a try.
DeleteVERY interesting!!! I think the only difference is the quantity of ingredients.
DeleteYour review makes me so excited to try it. Comes in the mail today! :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats!
DeleteMegaTek sounds good, but the parabens should be a concern. Thank you for the information.
ReplyDeleteHi. So which worked better? I'm having the same issue--hair thinning dramatically (esp. at the crown) due to hormonal issues. Was one greasier or did one make your hair burn more, etc.?
ReplyDeleteThey both are the same however Megatek is said to be stronger. I was going to post a video tonight but I am having technical difficulties. But if you are having hormonal issues, I would go to a dr. and see if you can balance your hormones through medication or a diet. I have poly-cystic ovarian syndrome which deals with hormones and Megatek IS NOT the solution....I use it to maintain healthy hair.
DeleteGood morning and thank you for your very informative post. I have been using MegaTek (which I order from an online feed store) for hair loss since early 2011. I believe my hairloss is a combination of stress and surgery/anesthesia. After my 1st surgery 10/2010, I began to lose my hair around day 90. I researched this and read some medical articles which document hairloss after surgery to begin within the first 90 days after the procedure but can begin as late as 90 days after. It was horrible. Handfuls were coming out everyday, and like you, I have naturally fine, curly hair, and I have been wearing it natural since the '80's. So it was and still is very devestating to see my curls go down the drain and into the trash on a daily basis ( I am in the military and got injured, and had to endure a recent back surgery, so the whole hair loss cycle began again). My hormones are fine, and I am also using an herbal supplemement called Hair Essentials. I just started all of this so I hope my hair comes back to life in the next 3 months. Thank you again for your advise!
ReplyDeleteCan this be used on color treated hair? My hair started graying and so I use color treatment every 6-8 weeks. Do I stop coloring my hair?
ReplyDeleteI would love to try this because my hair grows so slowly and breaks due to weakness and styling. It's been shoulder length for two years now! How much growth on average would you say you got from using it? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteHi Olivia,
ReplyDeleteIngredients listed on products are placed in order of higher to lower so based on your review I would state that MEGA-TEK has a greater percentage of the protein than Ovation.
Very informative post. Thank you!
