"Can I ask you a question" said this high school girl, "yes" I replied. "Like, I wanted to wear this camouflage jacket for spirit week, but, do you think it's offensive?" My response.
Now, I know that there are many controversial trends that are taking a lot of heat whether it is religious or cultural such as the bindi trend or a Native American Headdress. But would you consider the camouflage print to fall under that category?
I asked the girl what made you think it would be offensive? She stated, "Because for those who served or who still are serving, it's their uniform and making it a fashion statement, might rub people the wrong way?" I paused for a while taken back by the question. My response, "I don't think it's disrespectful to wear the print. But, if it is the actual uniform, I personally wouldn't feel comfortable wearing it. I understand that individuals can associate camouflage to war and frown upon that topic, but overall, it all comes down to preference. A print or color is not subjected to anyone or anything in my eyes."
She said thanks and turned around which transformed my face into horror. Her butt was hanging out of her itty bitt (too small) shorts, WTF.
For someone who is worried about offending someone, do you think she exceeded the goal in that department? What do you think is more offensive daisy dukes exposing ass or a pattern/color that is tied to a representation of something?
What do you think?
